ASHMORE Ernest Thomas
Stoker 1st Class, 301367, H.M. Submarine H5, Royal Navy. Drowned in the Irish Sea, 2nd March 1918, aged 36. Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. Son of Mr Thomas and Mrs Elizabeth Ashmore of 5 Humphris St, Emscote,Warwick. Husband of Lucy Sarah Ashmore of 50 Spring Lane, Kenilworth whose brothers, Arthur and Leonard Green also died in the war. His name is on the Holyhead Maritime Museum Memorial to the crew of Submarine H5.

BOYT Horace George Richard Second Lieutenant, 3rd Fighter Squadron, Royal Air Force. Killed in England, 31st July 1918, on his last trial flight before leaving for France, aged 19. Buried in Stanhoe (All Saints) Churchyard, Norfolk. Only son of Mr C. and Mrs E. Boyt of Charlton, Windy Arbour, Kenilworth.

He was born at Coventry, enlisted at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and resided at Coventry. Killed in action 14th April 1918, aged 19. No known grave. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey. Panel 35 to 37. Son of Mr William Charles and Mrs Emma Cashmore of 9 Four Oaks Common Road, Four Oaks Common, Birmingham. His brother Arthur Cashmore lived at 140 Albion St, Kenilworth. He is also commemorated on the Sutton Coldfield memorial.

Private 265012, 2/7th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Served in France. Son of Mr and Mrs F. Colman of 51 Waverley Road, Kenilworth. Discharged from army 20th August 1915 suffering from tuberculosis and a gunshot wound in the hip. Died during the last quarter of 1916, aged 22. Before the war he worked as a trimmer in the motor industry in Coventry.

Private 2142, 1st/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Died in Coventry Barracks December 1914, aged 18. Buried in Coventry Cemetery. Nephew of Mr and Mrs Upton of Albion Street, Kenilworth. His parents lived at Ratley, Warwickshire, where he is also recorded on the war memorial.

Brother-in-law of William Eales – who lodged at the same address and married his sister Helen – and was killed in action, 22nd September 1918.

Before enlisting Private Rawlins worked for Mrs Hughes, baker, Warwick Road, Kenilworth, for about 16 years. He enlisted in September 1916, joining the Garrison Artillery, transferring to the Border Regiment in December, leaving for France in January.
